MTGS Meeting Monday 18th May 2015
at Betchworth Park Golf Club

We had a disappointing turn out of 32 members and 15 guests in our Member/Guest day at Betchworth Park. I looked back at my corresponding Email last year and it began "on the hottest day of the year...": whilst it was not quite the wettest day of 2015, the weather gods exacted their revenge today! Apart from the weather, the feedback I received was pretty positive: -
• Once again the Club went out of their way to welcome us and to ensure that the day went well
• The quality of the food and service was excellent
• The course was in good condition although the greens were a few days from fully recovering from hollow tining
• The course was a really good golfing challenge and great views could be enjoyed between the rain
Our new President, Roger Prowting, welcomed the members and guests and covered some key points: -
• A thankyou to Betchworth Park GC for their efforts
• A plea for members to come forward to play in the match against Midlands North West at Tadmarton Heath on Tuesday June 16th where we currently do not have a full team (please contact me if you would like to play)
• An encouragement to members to sign up for the inaugural match for the Committee Cup at the splendid New Zealand GC on Thursday June 18th
• A reminder that the next of our "majors" is the member/guest day on July 2nd at West Hill
• We will be joined by some of the FMI members at Hindhead on July 30th for our third and final member/guest day of the season
• The MTGS dinner is a great occasion but last year the attendance was disappointing. We want to keep the dinner (December 3rd) in the forefront of members' minds as shown by the password to get into the members section of the website
• A really sincere "thank you" to the day's sponsor - Lease Car Credit: Oliver Harris's continued sponsorship is very much appreciated as were the sleeves of balls provided for all participants!
• Oliver then presented the prizes as follows: -
Division 1
1. Nick Haigh 40 - a stunning score in the conditions
2. Steve Wright 33
3. Roger Prowting 31 (on count back) - edging out Ray Fisher on the same score
Division 2

3. Steve Drewitt 28 (on count back) - pipping John Callender
