Committee Cup Report – New Zealand Golf Club March 5th 2019
The fifth playing of the Committee Cup took place in very good conditions particularly given the recent weather – it was sunny most of the time with just a bit of a nip in the wind (admittedly, I don’t feel the cold!). The delightful New Zealand golf course was in good nick despite some work on the course putting in new sprinklers for the tees.
There were 30 players in all but, to balance up the teams, some were made honorary members of the Committee team.
All matches (mostly four ball better ball) were played out for the full 18 holes, with an overall tie to be resolved by the number of holes won. The two three-ball matches were played as two singles matches

The overall result was a resounding 11½ - 4½ win in favour of the Members and they now lead the series 3 – 2.
Lunch was superb and, after a few words from our President, Martin Derrick, Sean Friedman (Members Captain) was presented with the magnificent Leon Friedman Memorial Trophy by our guest of honour, Mrs Bernice Friedman,

• The next event on our schedule is the first major of 2019 – the member’s day at St Georges Hill on April 11th. Please attend the AGM that day if you possibly can – we welcome your feedback. This year we will be dispensing with the ceremonial Drive-In because there will be no new President as a result of Nick Haigh having to defer his Presidency due to injury
