Venue: Beaconsfield Golf Club
The two teams gathered in the clubhouse for the obligatory bacon roll and coffee, enjoying the usual pre-match banter ahead of another eagerly anticipated fixture. The weather could not have been better, with warm sunshine providing perfect conditions for a day of competitive golf.
With clear skies overhead, the atmosphere on the putting green was electric, with both sides demonstrating their passion for the game and their determination to come out on top.
The course was presented in excellent condition, with well-maintained fairways and tee boxes, while the greens ran true and fast, providing a fair but challenging test for both teams.
The match was a well-fought battle from start to finish, with every pairing facing determined opposition. Both teams produced some excellent golf, and the result remained in doubt for much of the day as momentum swung back and forth. The FMI team played with great determination and sportsmanship, pushing the MTGS all the way and ensuring every match was hard earned.
Collective effort and outstanding team spirit once again defined the MTGS performance. Every member displayed exemplary sportsmanship and genuine camaraderie. That unity proved to be a key factor in overcoming the strong challenge presented by the FMI team.
It is always a pleasure to play against the FMI. Ray Sommerville has done a tremendous job of building the Fellowship's golf section, and once again both teams enjoyed a competitive match played in the right spirit. The quality of golf and the friendly rivalry made for another memorable fixture.
After showering and changing, everyone enjoyed the lunch, which did not disappoint. This was followed by the trophy presentation, with Peter Cottle presenting the trophy to Ian Hill on behalf of the victorious MTGS team.
Following a closely contested and thoroughly enjoyable day, MTGS emerged with a 4–2 victory.
We look forward to returning next year to renew this friendly rivalry once again.
