MTGS V FMI Match Report

Date 06/08/24

Beaconsfield Golf Club was alive with the sound of anticipation as 24 golfers gathered on a grey, wet August day. Despite the weather, the course was in immaculate condition, with greens that were true and quick. This annual meet, now in its third year, was set to be a great battle to see who would come out on top.

As the match began, the usual banter flowed freely among the players, each team trying to outwit the other with playful jabs and laughter. The rain persisted on and off for the duration of the round, but this didn't dampen either team’s spirit.

The game continued with intensity and camaraderie, each team pushing the other to their limits.

In the end, it was the MTGS team that clinched victory with a score of 4 & 2, retaining the cup for another year.

Unfortunately Ray Sommervile was unable to attend this year's match, but we were honoured by the new 2024 chair of the Fellowship, Peter Cottle, who did a Sterling job in his absence. Both teams toasted each other on another successful day out.

Congratulations to the MTGS team and notable winners.  Unfortunately can’t list them because I lost the cards, but you know who you are, so thank you

We also had to issue a couple of fines on the day for Paul Healy.  One for playing the wrong hole, and the second for not wearing a jacket or Society tie at lunch. He graciously handed over £20 to our Treasurer, Roger, as a donation towards the BEN Day charity donation.   A little hash I hear you say but rules are rules!

The course, lunch, and staff were as always superb
