News and information from this event

Thank you to the 41 members and 33 guests (8 from the FMI) who came along to our 2nd Member/Guest Day of 2024 at Woking Golf Club yesterday.  We were blessed with one of the best weather days of the year so far, with sunshine and temperatures reaching 22 degrees.  Woking has always been a lovely course, but this year it was really in exceptional condition.  The tee boxes and fairways were manicured, to the extent that divot marks were filled in with green coloured sand to make them less obvious.  The greens were incredibly fast, with many putts resulting in balls sailing past the hole.   Just to make sure our golfing skills were challenged, the pins were once again set up ready for a club championship this weekend. Only one golfer broke handicap this year.  Well played Gordon Watt!!

Following a welcome shower, everyone enjoyed a drink on the veranda.   Thankfully they opened up the Club Members changing rooms to us this year, so changing was not quite as cosy as last year.

Following a fine 3 course carvery, our President, Gerry Lynch, gave a short speech thanking the club for looking after us so well,  AutoProtect for kindly sponsoring the event, the FMI for co-hosting with us.  He expressed some disappointment that several Members were not wearing Society clothing, either on the course or at lunch, and warned that he would ask for charitable donations at the next event for those caught.   Gerry and AutoProtect’s Alex Lugt then gave out to prizes to the MTGS Members and Guests.  This was followed by Ray Sommerville thanking the Club and the MTGS and giving out the prizes to the Fellowship.
