Welcome to the inaugural match against our old friends, the Fellowship of Motor Industry.
It is our first visit to the lovely, Harry Colt designed, Beaconsfield Golf Club. It is the home course of Luke Donald.

Thank you to our team members who played ther match against the FMI yesterday at Beaconsfield Golf Club. It’s the first time we’ve played against the FMI and their Match Manager, Ray Sommerville, did a great job fielding a team, even taking a last minute drop out in his stride. Well done Ray.
It was also the first time, that I know of, that we have used Beaconsfield for a Match. It proved a great new addition to the line up of courses we play. Both Team Captains were on parade early to welcome the teams for Coffee and Bacon Rolls in the lovely club house.
The course was in great condition, considering the lack of rain and heat over the last few weeks. The greens were fast and true, the tee boxes nicely manicured and even some of the fairways were green.
It was a good, friendly match, played in a great spirit. Our President Graham Hunt & Past President Martin Derrick were first off, and were up against tough opposition that unfortunately ended in a loss.
Next up were myself and Mike Miller playing Ray & David McCluskey. This match went back and forth to the very end were finally Mike and I managed a win!
Following us was Paul Healy and Ian Dowdeswell who had a fantastic win of 5/4.
Next team were Lee Cooksey & Paul Newman who, whilst playing extremely well, lost on the 18th.
So, four matches played and we were back to all square.
The anchor men bringing up the rear were Ian Hill and Mark Binyon. They had a tough match but managed to secure a half, so the overall result was a much deserved draw.
Following the match we all enjoyed a fantastic 3 course meal in their upstairs dining room. The two societies fitted in very well together and nobody went home hungry thanks to the club’s very generous portions!
As we arranged the Trophy it was agreed that the MTGS would bring home the Trophy

All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable first fixture against the Fellowship. I hope it is the first of many. Already looking forward to this fixture and venue next year
