News and information from this event

Thank you to all who played at Swinley Forest yesterday.  We had a good turnout of 37 Members and 19 guests.  It was nice to see so many familiar faces, that have been absent from our meetings for a while, come back and enjoy the slopes of this lovely golf course with us.

We were blessed with warm, slightly muggy, weather and luckily the threatened thunderstorms held off for those intrepid enough to venture out for a second 18 holes after lunch.  The course was in very good condition.  The fairways were hard, allowing straight drives to travel a long way.  Any wayward drives were swallowed up by the abundant heather and many golf bags went home considerably lighter as a result.   The greens were fast and true, but were full of steep run offs and difficult to read undulations, ready to carry putts in unforeseen directions.     The Starter tried to persuade several groups to play off the white tees, but after the difficulties faced by many off those tees last year, everyone played off the (far more forward than usual) yellow tees.

There must have been several players on very good form, as we had several who scored 40 or more points.  The performance of the day was from Stuart Noakes who came in with an astonishing, personal best, score of 47 points!!   Well played Stuart.  A phenomenal score.  You took all the (in jest) Mexican comments very well

After a very tasty 4 course carvery, our President, Graeme Hunt, gave a short speech welcoming everyone to Swinley Forest, complimenting the course, the service and the food, congratulating the winners and introducing our Sponsor, Oliver Harris of Lease Car Credit, to present the prizes.  We are very grateful for his ongoing and generous sponsorship of this event.

Our next Member / Guest Day at Hankley Common is on Tuesday 9th August.  There is still plenty of availability, so please could I encourage you to put your name forward to play, if you have not done so already.

Keep Well and Best Wishes
