News and information from this event

Thank you to the 34 members and 29 guests (10 from the FMI) who came along to our 2nd Member/Guest Day of 2022 at Woking Golf Club today.  The course was in top notch condition, with fast running, true greens, manicured tee boxes and heather trapping any errant shots.  Just to make sure our golfing skills were challenged, the pins were set up ready for a club championship this weekend.  As was the case at this event last year, the weather gods were unfortunately unkind to us.  Not quite as biblical as the BBC had been forecasting, but a constant light rain tested everyone’s golfing endurance and waterproofs.

Following a welcome shower, and change into dry clothes, everyone enjoyed a drink in the bar.    This was followed by a fine 3 course carvery, complimented by a glass of Prosecco, courtesy of the Hunt family, to celebrate William’s hole in one on the 7th last year.  Great shot William!

Following the meal, our President, Graeme Hunt, gave a short speech thanking the club for looking after us so well, the Committee for all their behind the scenes work, AutoProtect for kindly sponsoring the event and complimenting the winners on doing so well despite the conditions.

The stand out performances from the day came from Division 1.  Rain and championship pin positions did not seem to deter our winning players, with all three top scores over 36 points.  Nick Haigh was very close to achieving a scratch round, racking up a phenomenal 41 points.  Sorry about the 2 point cut for the rest of the year Nick….

Joff Suter was invited up to give out the prizes, on behalf of our generous sponsor AutoProtect.  Thank you Joff ( and well played today )
