St George's Hill Report

Thank you to the 46 members and 13 guests who came along to our 1st Member/Guest Day of 2021 at St George’s Hill yesterday.  After the chaos of 2020, it was good to see everyone catching up and hear some of the banter that we have all being missing.

We were blessed with mainly sunny weather and a few brave souls were even seen in short sleeves - despite the chilly breeze.  The course played very well with the fairways and bunkers were in excellent condition.  The greens were considerably better than our 2019 experience, but the recent cold weather meant that they had unfortunately not completely recovered from being hollow tined a few weeks ago.

Covid restrictions were handled very well.  A shame that we could not enjoy the usual fine carvery after golf, but the serving staff were attentive and the heaters took the chill out of the air in the marquee.

There was only one player who broke handicap.  John Wake scored an impressive 37 points.  Well played John.  Our Esteemed President, Nick Haigh, won the Div 1 Longest Drive Competition with a distance that a Tour Professional would have been proud of.

Well done to all our winners today.
