MTGS v AGS at New Zealand Golf Club Wednesday 23rd June 2004

It was with some trepidation that the President and the team arrived at the club. The BBC was forecasting the worst June weather - ever! Very heavy rain and gale force winds! At around 10am it was thought that the golf could wait no longer and battle commenced.

The wind was all that was forecasted but luckily the rain was not, and the morning round was completed without much rain, with the MTGS winning the morning 2 ½ - 1 ½. Following lunch, with new opponents the team set out again.

The afternoon was forecast to be sunny with showers, the showers happened but not much sun! However the sun shone on the President with the team winning 3 – 1 making the overall score 5 ½ - 2 ½ to the MTGS. The President managed, with his partner, to win by a "Dog Licence" (7&6 to those younger members).

The Golf Manager and last years President both forgot to arrange for the cup to be at the club so George Simpson was forced to present a tea cup to Nick Kingsbury!

A great time was had by all – the food was as usual, superb, as was the course – despite all the rain and the President kept his unbroken winning record (well no losses!). rjf 23/06/04
