Match Report


The annual match between MTGS and the BMW Dealers Golf Society was first played 10 years ago and is now established as one in which many members are keen participate.

This year’s match was once again played at the West Byfleet Golf Club in Surrey. The course may not be long but proved to be a real test of golf. Players on both sides commented on the good condition of the course despite recent course work.

The catering was again of a very standard and the Steak and Kidney pie made a nice change from the usual fayre of a carvery.

The match is played for a very unusual trophy. It is a brake disc from a Williams BMW Grand Prix Formula 1 car raced at Monza. The disc is mounted on a plinth and both teams are very keen to be the holders.

MTGS were the holders of the trophy but were beaten by a strong BMWDGS team by 3 matches to 1. So the trophy returns to Bracknell but our President committed the society to regain it next year. It was the last match of the golf year and it was disappointing for it to finish with a loss. However, it did not stop our president really enjoying the occasion.
