MTGS V Midlands MTGS 16th June 2015 at Tadmarton GC

It was a glorious day when we arrived at this lovely course near Banbury. As you arrive, you have spectacular views across the green, rolling Oxfordshire countryside. We all assembled around 12/12.30 and enjoyed a nice lunch of homemade soup and sandwiches before the official pairings were announced.

Unfortunately the opposition had a couple of last minute drop outs but the final result resulted in a win for the MTGS by a margin of 4-2, the winning pairings were our president Roger Prowting and Conrad Gamble winning 2 &1, John Smith and Martin Howes winning 6 & 5, Colin Russell and John Sinclair winning 2 & 1 and Eamon Bradley and John Callender winning
2 & 1. The trophy was held by the Midlands who won last year and so it was good to see the old golf club trophy return home.

The day was finished off by a few beers on the terrace over looking the 9th par 3 green and a superb traditional golf club dinner of steak and kidney pie of ample proportions, which judging by the empty plates afterwards, was enjoyed by all. It finished off with the Midlands president presenting the trophy to Roger, with both agreeing to continue this match next year at the same venue and around the same time

The Midlands President has also offered an invitation for MTGS members to play in any of their society days which they hold at Little Aston and Blackwell: once we receive some dates from them, they will be circulated.
