MTGS v The Northwest MTGS at Blackwell GC
Thursday 19nd September 2019
The teams arrived at the lovely Blackwell club around 12.30pm with the weather excellent, sunny and warm so great golfing conditions. The pairings were announced over bacon rolls and coffee. The first tee off was at 1.30pm. We had 5 matches in the usual 4 ball better ball format under match play conditions.
As usual, it was a very competitive affair but played in a great atmosphere of friendship. The course was in superb condition asalways and the match finished in an honourable draw
Final score 2.5 – 2.5 points So MTGS retain as holders of the trophy.
Well done to our two winning pairs Frank Whiffen & Paul Healey plus Steve Drewitt and Paul Williams.
Also, an important half point from Nick Kingsbury and PawanKenth
The trophy would have been presented by our President Martin Derrick but unfortunately Martin had to leave earlier because he was unwell which was just as well because our past President Paul Williams had left the trophy at home!!
We thanked the catering staff for their kind attention, also many thanks to the green staff who had done a great job of presenting the course in such excellent condition.
Blackwell is always a favourite course of the MTGS and we all look forward to returning next September.
