News and information from this event

On a dry, slightly muggy day, a record field (in my tenure as Golf Manager) of 85 enjoyed a great golf course in superb condition. The golf was sandwiched between a bacon roll and an excellent lunch.

Our President, Martin Derrick, sent his apologies as he had to be overseas. We had an excellent alternate in our Vice President, Nick Haigh, who spoke over lunch and the key points he made were: -

  • Welcome to all present, especially the 43 guests (10 from FMI)
  • Our three remaining major events of the year are at:-
    • Swinley Forest (you should already have received your invitation for the Member/Guest day on June 27th)
    • Hankley Common (Member/Guest day on August 27th)
    • Walton Heath (Members’ day on September 12th)
  • Woking GC was congratulated for their organisation, excellent food and a course immaculately presented Nick handed over to me and I expressed a really sincere "thank you" for our sponsor today – AutoProtect and, in particular, to two of our members who work for that company; Joff Suter and Nick Haigh. I reported that I had just spoken to the Woking Secretary and congratulated him but wondered what we had done to upset the green keeping staff as the pin positions were consistently evil (the Woking greens are challenging enough with normal pins)!
The results were as follows: -
