Match Report

On a hot and airless day in the depths of the stockbroker belt, the might of the British Army met the MTGS team for our annual match.

Our first pair led by El Presidente Ray with John Day, came to an ignominious end 5 & 4, having come across a secret weapon who spent all day talking about his impending hip operation, and played par golf!

The second pairing of John Woollatt and Gerry Horwood managed a 3 & 1 victory followed by Stan Chicksand and Michael Evans (thanks for standing in Michael) with a creditable 1UP victory. Paul Healy and Mike Smith lost to a very strong pair, so we stood at two all.

The final pair of Richard Roberts and Peter Featherstone saved the day with a good 3 &2 win in a tight match. The final result was a 3-2 victory to the MTGS.

A good carvery lunch followed and a very enjoyable day was had by all. This is one of our oldest and most popular fixtures, played in a great spirit and with some, by now, old friends. Ray was delighted to receive the trophy having given away the last two!
