The Berkshire Guest Meeting

It seem that HOT is the order of the day for our meetings this year and the Berkshire was no exception. 105 players played two rounds of this famous golf course in temperatures approaching 30c. The courses were in magnificent condition but the heather was "taking no prisoners!" With a four-tee start all player were on the courses by 10am.

The lunch was as good as usual and many wanted to know what the chef did to the meat to make it so tender! Following lunch most! of the players went out to do battle in the afternoon foursomes. With a different course in the afternoon there was a new lot of heather to contend with. All the afternoon starters managed to finish but there were a few very tired golfers. The president's guest was the Snooker player/commentator John Vergo who plays golf off 18! and the entertained the group with a stream of anecdotes and stories – it is likely that he will be the speaker at our Dinner at the Savoy in December.

At the prize giving Peter Featherstone thanked all the helpers, with out whom the event would not be possible and gave a special thanks to Nigel Hawkins from Jigsaw Finance, who very kindly sponsored the prizes.
