Last Match of the Season v BVLRA
Once again the traffic on the M25 caused a number of the team problems and the team match order had to be changed at the last moment.
Peter Bachelor arrived at Stoke Park to find a Volvo sitting on its sump plug in the car park! The President had pulled into a space and as there was no one in the space in front he thought it would be a good idea to pull forward so he was ready to drive straight out after the match – this was a bad idea!
Between the parking spaces there was a drainage trench filled with shingle! The front wheels went in to the trench and all that happened was that shingle was sprayed all over the car park – the car just went lower and lower until it rested on it's drain plug. Luckily the BBC were filming a new mini series at Stoke that day and the car park was full of all sorts of BBC kit including a forklift truck! The guys felt sorry for the President and pulled him out of the trap!
After that excitement the golf was fairly uneventful – one of the MTGS team failed to arrive and the Golf Manager had to play two against one – again! The course was a little wet after a night's heavy rain but it played well. The lunch was exceptionally good, and by the way MTGS lost 4 ½ - 1 ½ !
