On a somewhat dismal morning we met at Hankley Common to do battle against the Transport Golfing Society. The teams on both sides are drawn from Past Presidents plus the current Presidents of both Societies. Prior to this match the tally stood at 9 matches each.
Play in singles commenced at 8.30 and Philip Payze was in fine form completing the back nine in 35 to hold a commanding lead at the turn. The weather improved as the morning wore on and the top four matches were victories for the MTGS followed by a vital half by Peter Featherstone. The TGS tail wagged very strongly but by this time the MTGS had retained the Transport Cup by 4.5 to 3.5. pb
