A cloudy but dry and warm Wednesday morning saw 7 very keen Past Presidents and me at Hankley for the match v TGS (Transport Golf Society)
As we were playing singles in groups of 4! (strange but I understand that it's always been like this) we had to start from the 10th. Hankley hosted the UK Boys Championship ( I hope I've got that right!) a few days ago and the course had been prepared to Championship condition. Hankley is always very good but this time it was super.
I played quite well but was drawn v Frank who went round in around 5 over par gross playing off 14. I did get 2 shots but only managed to keep the match alive to the 6th
green (15th hole played) - I seem to have found the way for the MTGS to win matches - we seem to win when I lose, I will try to keep this up for the rest of the year!
As you will see below the end result was a resounding win of 6/2 which puts the Match results at 3/1 for the year.
One of our members had a non MTGS shirt, two were sporting the original style of shirt and one had the new style but with the black edge round the motive! so following the fines BEN was better off by £25! (Total so far = £50)
The food was up to the usual high standard expected from Hankley - A good day was had by all.
Peter Featherstone, Brian Lowe, Nick Kingsbury, Tom Madden, Philip Payze and Oliver Harris all won. Tony Worthy and I lost!
Both teams before lunch
