Match vs RLC at Worplesdon
Thu 18th August 2011

News and information from this event

Thursday 18th August 2011

This was the first time for this match at a new venue (Worplesden) which has traditionally been played at The Berkshire. The new venue did not disappoint and despite starting of on full wets the rain disappeared after the second hole and we were soon onto intermediates with the dry weather remaining until the last hole or so. After that the heavens opened for the rest of the day so we can count ourselves lucky.
The match was very evenly balanced except that they had more OBE's and CBE's than us but the golf worked out very well finishing on the last match with a 2 ½ -2 ½ draw. As a result of this we retain the trophy for another year having won in 2010.
Thanks to James for his speech and to all our participants particularly Ray Fisher who substituted at very short notice ; these are a great bunch to play with and they value this fixture highly. If you are thinking about next years fixture list, put your name down for this one- good food, good company and a great Surrey course.

Match manager.
