Match vs TGS at Hankley Common
Wed 3rd August 2011

News and information from this event

An impressive line up of past presidents assembled at 8 am to take on a strong team put out by the TGS for this annual match at Hankley Common. The pairings were drawn over bacon rolls and coffee and it was decided to play in groups of four for this traditional singles match. The course was in superb condition with tightly mown fairways and slick greens . The weather was hot and humid and dead calm, perfect golfing conditions.

Gerry Lynch and myself led the team out followed by Geoffrey Dove and Tony Worthy,Brian Lowe and Nick Kingsbury and the formidable pair of Peter Featherstone and Oliver Harris in the anchor role.
It turned out to be a close match with Oliver gaining the final point on the 18th green to give the MTGS a 5-3 victory.

After an excellent lunch, Tom Madden, the TGS president was his usual charming self with his generous comments , graciously presented the Motor Transport Trophy to the MTGS.
My thanks to Tony Worthy and Tom Madden for their hard work in putting this match together and of course to the victorious MTGS team.
