Match vs Midlands MTGS at Tadmarton
Tue 7th June 2011

News and information from this event

June 7th 2011

The annual match against the Midlands MTGS had been moved forward to June in the hope of better weather, but on arrival at Tadmarton Heath Golf Club, the heavans opened and it looked as though full wet weather gear would be needed!! The only golf buggy available was swiftly commandered by Paul Williams and Tony Worthy.
The pairings were drawn over lunch and with the Midlands short of 1 player, it was decided that Charlie Keen would play on his own with 4 extra shots.
The President and Match Secretary trudged to the 1st tee for the 2pm start in full wet weather gear but thankfully by the time we reached the 1st green, the clouds rolled away and we were treated to a glorious summer afternoon with a stiff breeze.
The course was in excellent condition and the greens were superb which resulted in a narrow victory for the MTGS after some excellent golf from both sides.
Over dinner, the Midlands captain,Dave Thomas, presented the Prized Putter to James Crickmay who thanked the Midlands MTGS for their hospitality and looked forward to defending the trophy in 2012.
My thanks also to Mike Bell for organising the match and of course to the victorious MTGS team.
