Match vs Midlands MTGS at Tadmarton
Wed 6th June 2012

News and information from this event

June 6th June 2012.

When the two teams arrived at the course it was raining and blowing a strong wind. So we were all expecting yet another rain effected round at Tadmarton. The pairings were drawn over lunch and with the Midlands team one short they elected to put Colin Smith their 8 handicap player out in the first group on his own.
The President and Match Secretary were the 1st to tee off at 2pm in full wet weather gear but thankfully by the time we reached the 1st green, the rain stopped and we had a dry but very blowy round of golf.
The course was in excellent condition and the greens were superb which resulted in a draw but because the MTGS are the holders we retained the Prized Putter after some excellent golf from both sides.
Over dinner, the Midlands captain, Steve Benton, presented the Prized Putter to Derek Allen who thanked the Midlands MTGS for their hospitality and looked forward to defending the trophy in 2013
My thanks also to Mike Bell for organising the match and of course to all of the MTGS team members especially to Tony Worthy who came in at the last minute as a replacement.
