MTGS Meeting Tuesday 21nd May 2013
at Hankley Common Golf Club
Our second member event of the year got under way with 64 players turning up bright and early today, with 42 members and 22 guests.
The weather was not too bad, and although overcast it was not too windy and did not rain, so I suppose that was a blessing. The course was in good condition and we were well looked after by the club and the lunch was up to its usual high standard.
My thanks go to Oliver Harris and his Company Moneybarn for their continued support of the prizes at this event.
The day proved tough for many of the competitors but two clear winners emerged from the mediocre scores and posted a tremendous result, in Div 1 it was Oliver Harris with 40 points and in Div 2 Vippen Khanna with a magnificent 42 points, full results can be seen below :-
Remember we also have an aggregate competition running throughout the year in which the best three scores from the five member events are added together to compete for some wonderful trophies which will be presented at Walton Heath in September.
Our next event is on the 4th July at a new venue for us at West Hill G.C. it is a great course and one you should all try and attend, we are limited to 70 players so get your entry forms in as soon as you can once they have been sent out. Between now and then we have several matches and I will circulate the results of those soon after each match, and I am hoping to add to our first win of the season against the Scots.
Finally, I know it is early in the year but planning is well advanced for our dinner this year, which again will be held at The Dorchester on the traditional first Thursday in December ( 5th ), we will be coming out shortly to start gathering bookings, particularly for the larger table groups, so if you want to provisionally book a table please drop a note to Peter Featherstone and myself and we will ensure one is held for you.
Hopefully I will see many of you on 4th July at West Hill.
