MTGS Meeting Thursday 21st March 2013
St George's Hills Golf Club
MTGS Meeting Report
Well this is my last report as your President so I would like to thank every member for their great support over the past year.
We had an excellent turnout for our 1st meeting of the 2013. In total we had 72 players registered of which 6 were from FMI.
It was a great pleasure for me to give a warm welcome to the FMI players along with their Hon. Secretary Clive Timms who didn’t play golf but attended the lunch and prize giving.
We had some new members playing for the first time and they were introduced to our members. They are Peter Eatonton, Larry Hawkins and Philip Wilkins. Also the members we introduced to Terry Wills who will take over as our Golf Manager as from 2014 replacing our excellent golf manager of the past five years John Smith. On behalf of all the members thank you John for doing such a great job. Ray Fisher is training Terry this year so thank you Ray for doing this for the society. Thanks also to John Etches for helping on the desk and to our sponsor of the day British Car Auctions.
The wonderful SGH Red & Blue courses were in fine condition which we have come to expect. This is one of the best venues that we play in my opinion. Luckily the weather was kind to us albeit it was only 7C but no rain. The scores reflected that many of our members had not played in the past few months because of the terrible weather this winter as you will see from the winning scores below. There were no 39 or 40 points this year. My congratulations to all the winners. :-
Div 1 1st Oliver Harris, 12hc, 36 points on countback, 2nd Vince Davis, 8 hc, 36 points, 3rd David Warren, 14hc, 35 points. Longest Drive Sean Friedman, Nearest the pin David Warren.
Div 2 1st John Hammond, 21hc, 35 points on countback, 2nd Martin Rennger, 15hc, 35 points, 3rd Craig Brown, 20hc, 34 points. Longest Drive David Hussey, Nearest the pin Ray Fisher.
FMI 1st Bob Cadman, 2nd Trevor Dutton, LD Brian Childs, NtP Bob Cadman.
After lunch was prize giving and I congratulated SGH on their Centenary this year then our new President John Smith drove in off the first tee in fine style. We all wish John a very successful year.
