MTGS v ROYAL LOGISTICS CORP at Worplesdon
Thursday 22nd August 2013
The day dawned dull and very very wet and as the players approached Worplesden, the only bright spot was the thought of bacon sandwiches ( which were excellent).
A very co-perative secretary told us we could delay the start to see if the weather improved
so we wallowed in coffee for a while until it eased off, fortunately it stayed away for the rest of the day.
Ray Fisher and your president went out first and suffered a minor defeat 3 and 2.
Stan Chicksand and John Woollatt followed on and secured our first point 3 and 1, this was Stan’s first win in this match , and well deserved.
Neil Smith and Derek Allen had a close match finally going down 3 and 2, before douglas Drummond and John Day came up with a stunning victory 4 and 3.
This left us with a draw and the last pairing of Oliver Harris and James Crickmay mullahed the opposition 5 and 4 giving the society a victory 3 to 2.
As usual the match was played in a great spirit and the food lived up to it’s reputation,
Anyone who has not played in this match put it down in your availability for next year as it is a gem of a course and we always have a great match.
