News and information from this event

MTGS v MIDLANDS MTGS at Tadmarton Heath
Tue 11th June 2013.

Match Report

This match is usually played in the wet and on the drive up the M 40 it looked as though tradition would prevail but thankfully the stiff breeze kept the clouds moving and the afternoon remained windy but dry. A much changed MTGS team from the originally selected 12 duly arrived but The Midlands team were a man short so their Captain played as a single.

The pairings were announced over lunch and the President, John Smith, led off partnered by Martin Howes who won 4 and 3. Other winners were John Woollatt and Nick Haigh,1up,Terry Wills and Butch Ash,1up,and Eamon Bradley and Paul Williams 5 and 4. So the MTGS won the match 4. - 2 and John was delighted to be presented with the Putter over dinner. The President thanked the Midlands for their hospitality and looked forward to defending the match in 2014.

Although an excellent win for the MTGS most games were very close and several players played under handicap making for an excellent days golf.
