MTGS Meeting Monday 19th May 2014
at Betchworth Park Golf Club

On the hottest day of the year so far, 39 members and 19 guests played in our first ever Member/Guest day at Betchworth Park. All of the feedback on the day was very positive indeed: -
• The Club really had gone the extra mile to ensure that we had a great time: we received a very warm welcome from them
• The quality of the food and service was excellent
• The course was in very good condition and provided a stern golfing challenge (look at the scores!): the quality of the golf course was a most pleasant surprise for those who were playing the course for the first time (as were the spectacular views)
Our new President, Eamon Bradley, welcomed the members and guests and covered some key points: -
• The Society is now using a rotation of Clubs for our member/guest days: currently our pool is Betchworth, West Hill & Woking with Hindhead coming on board next year
• We have changed our philosopy on prizes: instead of wine, we are offering John Lewis vouchers and Pro V1s. The vouchers can be used (either online or in stores) to purchase a multitude of items including alcohol and golf equipment or even given to long suffering golf widows!
• Our June match with the Automobile Golf Society has been cancelled as they are unable to raise a team. Strangely, this has had a positive outcome for us in that we will be able to make the splendid New Zealand course available to more MTGS members this year and in the future. We are working on an alternative approach for competing against the AGS later in the year at the same course
• The next of our "majors" is on July 3rd at West Hill where we will be joined by some of the FMI members
• A really sincere "thank you" to the day's sponsor - Moneybarn: Oliver Harris's continued sponsorship is very much appreciated as were the pens and mints provided for all participants!
• Oliver then presented the prizes as follows: -
Division 1
1. David Warren 33 (on count back)
2. John Woollatt 33 (CB)
3. Lee Cohen 31
